Vito's Italian Sausage & Peppers On A Roll
Italian Sausage is a great side dish, can be served with a Parmesan crusted garlic bread or a simple salad of mixed greens, tomatoes, red onion, and Italian vinaigrette.
Ingredients
- pkg long soft or hard rolls grilled or baked
- 3 to 5 Italian Sausage spicy or mild
- 1 white onion sliced into rings / strips
- small pkg mushrooms (optional) thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper (marinated roasted optional) thinly sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper (optional) for color thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
- 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1 tomato (optional) chopped
Instructions
- saute' white onions, green bell peppers, red bell peppers, yellow bell peppers, mushrooms, in a little olive oil & butter. While this is cooking, place Italian Sausage on pan or grill or smoker while turning occasionally. After browning on all sides, place sausage in bun and garnish with your sauteed ingredients & topped with mozzarella cheese. Place on cooking pan and put in oven to broil for only a few minutes and please watch closely for over browning, it will burn.
