Cronuts In The Cucina

2 sheets of puff pastry coat each with egg wash. Roll out one on top of the other, cut out a 3” circle, and then cut a 1” hole in the center. Heat high-temperature vegetable oil to about 350. Separate the layers of pastry so they are loosely together and gently put in the oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides, 4-5 minutes total, and drain well. Shake in a paper bag of sugar, and cinnamon sugar, coat with simple powdered sugar, or dip in powdered sugar icing. Decorate with sprinkles or fruit. For baking, use the same recipe but bake at 425 degrees approx.11 to 13 mins. Watch closely, remove then repeat topping and enjoy, best served when warm.

    I don’t get it people say, donuts…cronuts? What’s the difference? Well you’ll know when you try them – sweet, soft, a bit crunchy and just delicious!
