Jap Chae A Favorite Korean Dish
Ingredients
- 1 pkg Sweet Potato Noodles approx. 5oz
- 3 or 4 Fresh Carrots shredded
- 1 White Onion diced
- 1 Red Pepper sliced into strips
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup Sesame Oil
- 1 Pepper choose your amount
- 1 Salt Salt
- 1 Garlic garlic granules / sprinkled
- 1/2 cup Sweet Teriyaki Sauce
- 1 Toasted Sesame Seeds a handful sprinkled
Instructions
- boil noodles according to directions (we boiled 7 minutes) drain and rinse in cold water. Once fully rinsed and drained, put in a large bowl (enough to hold all ingredients) an add about 1/4 cup sesame oil (more or less to your taste). We cut the noodles as they are very long and cutting them in thirds will make it easier to work with and eat. Mix sesame oil and noodles together and set aside. We sauteed the spinach in a separate pan, strained and set aside to cool. Once cooled, squeeze all of the water out of the spinach and cut into small pieces of cooked spinach. Pan fry the steak in some butter and oil adding pepper and garlic to taste to the cooking meat. When it is browned on the outside, you can add the meat to the noodles. In the same pan, add a little more oil and cook the vegetables (onions, carrots and bell pepper) stir frying together for about 7-8 minutes until carrots are soft and onions are translucent, add some black pepper and granulated garlic to taste. Mushrooms can also be sauteed to add if desired. Once the vegetables are cooked, put them into the bowl with the meat and noodles. Mix all together and add 1/3 cup of the sweet soy based sauce. Add more pepper or garlic to taste and then add more sesame oil or sweet sauce if desired. Jap Chae should be sweet with the flavor of sesame oil, garlic and black pepper.
